Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will lead this year’s Eid al-Fitr prayers in the Iranian capital, Tehran, says the head of the Eid al-Fitr Prayers Headquarters.
“The gates of Tehran’s Grand Mosalla Mosque will be opened from all directions for worshipers to enter at 4 a.m. At 8 a.m., the Eid al-Fitr prayer will be led by the Leader of the Revolution,” Ali Nouri said at a press briefing on Saturday.
He also said that the Leader’s Office will declare Eid al-Fitr after sighting the moon of Shawwal (the tenth month of the Islamic calendar).
Eid al-Fitr is one of the most important religious holidays celebrated by Muslims around the world. It marks the conclusion of 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
This year, the occasion will fall either on March 31 or April 1.
