Araqchi departs for Saudi Arabia for OIC ministerial meeting
An OIC foreign ministerial meeting is to discuss ways to counter the plan by U.S. President Donald Trump for forced displacement of the war-ravaged people of Gaza.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has left Tehran for Saudi Arabia to attend a foreign ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
As proposed by Iran, the foreign ministers of OIC member states are scheduled to convene in the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, to discuss the Gaza issue.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esma’eel Baqayi had earlier said that the meeting in Jeddah would address countering the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump about the displacement of Gazan people.
Baqayi noted that the Arab League had proposed a plan for reconstruction of Gaza which had been welcomed by Hamas.
